LAMP
PUMPING CHAMBERS (LPC-1)
GENERAL
FEATURES
Pumping
Chambers constitute the heart of every Solid State Laser.
Lamp Pumping Chambers fulfil a dual mission: On one hand,
they have to concentrate the pumping lamp radiation
to the active element (crystal rod). On the other hand,
they have to provide housing and cooling channels for the
elements they contain. For this reason, they are employing
a sectional metallic jacket and elastic gaskets to ensure
their robust and sealed assembly.
Our long-lasting and continuous research resulted in the
development of a series of Lamp Pumping Chambers maintaining
the minimal dimensions and weight, while exhibiting improved
performance characteristics.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Our
Lamp Pumping Chambers incorporate a specular-type flowtube, designed
and manufactured in our premises. Its shape is such, to provide
focusing of the pump lamp radiation on the active element. These
flowtubes utilize pure fused silica for achieving optimal energy
transfer to the active element. In case efficient filtering of
the pumping lamp undesirable UV radiation and lateral depumping
suppression is required, our flowtubes of yellow fused silica or
Samarium doped glass can be employed, respectively.
The Pumping Chamber is hosting the lamp and the rod in separated
cooling channels, thus allowing simultaneous coolant supply and
achieving thermal lens’ optical axis stability due to the
reduced turbulence.
Moreover, the metallic jacket material selection between stainless
steel and titanium provides an additional possibility of unexceptionally
matching the Pumping Chamber to the desired application.
The selection of fine materials for their manufacturing makes them
suitable for a wide range of applications including industrial,
scientific, medical and military lasers.
